About Boxcon

Boxcon07 - Shlomo and the Vocal Orchestra

The International Human Beatbox Convention, or Boxcon, is the premiere event in the beatbox calendar. Beatboxers travel from across the globe to meet like minded artists, take part in open mics, listen to talks and panels, and to enjoy the workshops. Of course, there's the main concert also!

The first ever Boxcon took place at Imperial College, London, on 26th April 2003. Organized by A-Plus (aka Alex Tew), the founder of Humanbeatbox.com, this groundbreaking event took the whole beatboxing scene to a whole new level. For the first time in history, beatboxers travelled from around the globe to meet for a day of workshops/talks/open mics and showcases.

Boxcon has grown over the years and since 2007 has been held at the prestigious Southbank Centre in London. With over 1500 people checking out the free entry daytime events, Boxcon is also a fantastic day out for families. The beginners workshops cater to all ages and more advanced workshops from industry Q+As to technical/equipment seminars give insight to those looking to push their beatboxing to higher levels.

2009 saw the Boxcon brand branch out with a small event in Tilburg, NL. This is leading to the expansion of the brand to include new territories on an ongoing basis, with smaller events being held where possible under the Boxcon banner.
