About Boxcon
The International Human Beatbox Convention, or Boxcon, is the premiere event in the beatbox calender. Beatboxers travel from across the globe to meet like minded artists, take part in open mics, listen to talks and panels, and to enjoy the workshops. Of course, there's the main concert also!
Admission to the daytime events is completely free! In 2007, 1500 people made up of both beatboxers, and the general public, watched in awe as beatboxer after beatboxer owned the mic and blew the roof off the venue. We even had local residents stop by just to tell us they'd never seen the Southbank Centre so buzzing. Not bad considering it's a world-renowned arts venue!

Boxcon is also a fantastic day out for families. The beginners workshop caters to all ages; 2007 saw a fantastic 'crew' battle between four 8-year olds. They were fantastic, and all won dvds!
The main concert is the showpiece of the whole event. With a stellar line-up of top class pro-beatboxers, the show is always something to behold! The concert is usually held in the Purcell Room, but we hope that the Queen Elizabeth Hall awaits us to grace the stage!
At Boxcon07, we bore witness to Shlomo and the Vocal Orchestra. The performance was awesome, and even left some audience members with tears of joy in their eyes. Literally!
So, in a nutshell, that is Boxcon. A community led event by beatboxers, for everybody! We hope that you will all make it to Boxcon08 ! |
